Re: Creates compress folders when source is not compressed

Just an update on this issue. Using SynchronizeIt V3.5.1699 to copy files from a network drive to a local USB drive. Only one folder is involved and during the copy my wireless connection fails due to some bug in the wireless driver but I get the following error from SynchronizeIt: "1 error(s) : MVI...

Re: Compare by "Content" includes date check?

Ok, I see. I really should have used the Action of "Duplicate" (not Backup), along with the Compare by Content, to achieve my desired goal of finding any files that were different regardless of the date on the files. Any differences found with Duplicate would be pushed from the source to the target,...

Compare by "Content" includes date check?

I'm not sure if this is technically a bug but the behavior is not what I expected or wanted. I am using V3.5.1699 of Scnchronize It on Windows 7. The files being compared are all the same size but are slightly different with different file dates. I did a Preview using an action of "Backup" and "Comp...

Re: Creates compress folders when source is not compressed

It is very strange but yes, any file or folder manually created in the target or local folder is "normal". This is a new Windows 7 Ultimate retail build with empty Document, Music, Pictures and Videos folders. I was using Synchronize It to populate those folders with my files sitting on a Windows Ho...

Re: Creates compress folders when source is not compressed

Ok, it is related to a re-synch after a broken network connection in my case. This is the scenario that seems to cause Synchronize It to set the "compressed" attribute on the folders and files being copied: I am synchronizing two folders, one local and one located on another machine on my netowrk. I...

Re: Creates compress folders when source is not compressed

The other thing that happened that may have been a trigger was my wireless network connection dropped out during the initial copy and I had to restart it. I can't be for sure but I don't think the initial copy created the compressed folders but they showed up after the restarted synch. Unless someon...

Creates compress folders when source is not compressed

I was using Synchronize It to copy all my files from a folder on a Windows Home Server system to a folder on my local PC using the "backup" option. Essentially just copying all the files, including folders, from the Windows Home Server to the PC. The trouble is all the folders and files that Synchro...

Thanks! The update (now V3.4.1677) did fix my >4GB file compare problem. Sorry it took so long for me to be able to post this feedback.

I'm still not sure what is going on here. This is such an ellusive problem but now I have another repeatable failure I can report. I have a very large (over 4.4GB) CD image file (.nrg file). The master copy is on a Win2000 system and a backup copy is on a Windows Home Server system. If I use the DOS...

Yes, when it has happened on small files, say folders and folders of 4MB picture files it can take maybe 15 minutes or more of copying time before it will fail. It has never happened right away but seems to be somewhat random when it does happen. At the moment it happens every time given enough time...

The files are binary and smart files comparison is not checked. I must add another symptom that may be related to this but the opposite result. I have a 7.5GB file that I copied to another system and compared them across the network as being the same via the DOS FC command with the "/b" option. But ...

Out of that list these three fixes are network server or SMB related so would seem to me to be possible candidates: - Security Update for Windows XP (KB957097) - Security Update for Windows XP (KB958644) - Security Update for Windows XP (KB957095) Thoughts? I may try uninstalling them and see what h...

Losing network connection during Synch operation

I had made some comments in the "Delayed Write Error" thread thinking that my issue had the same root cause but I'm not sure now. I have been using Synchronize It for a long time with no problems then suddenly after I upgraded to V3.4 from V3.1 I could not longer synch my files without my network co...

Bob99, I am really glad to hear you have not had any problems with V1644. That gives me a little more confidence but I still don't like using a special patch release for such a critical application. It doesn't seem the patch release was signed or something as I get the Windows dialog on startup that...

Compare by "Content" not working for large files

It is almost like the Compare by "Content" feature only compares the two files (if they are large, as in 1GB-2GB in size) up to a point and then assumes the remainder of the file is equal as well. I have two large files that are not equal but the same for maybe several hundred MBytes of their 1.2GB ...
