Is it possible to synchronize by volume name. I have a few pen drives I keep for different uses and would like the program to recognise the individual drive, not just where it is mounted. Hi Igor,
When I use this option, "view changes only", it does reduce the displayed text, but it still does show lines in the file that don't have changes in them. Please can you check this out.

That's just wrong tools for your task. What you need is any duplicate finder - there are many such tools, including freeware. There is even built-in tool in TotalCommander for that.
