Diffing large .xml files

I have attempted to diff two versions of a very large .xml file (<9,000 KB). When I select both files to diff, I get an error message that the file cannot be opened. When I open the file using XMLSpy, it does take a long time to open.

Compare It! doesn't handle xml files any special way yet, so they should be opened just like plain text files. Could that file be locked during single run? Or it always happens with Compare It?

No, it is not being used by any other application. I did perform a successful diff using another diff tool (BeyondCompare) but it did take a long time (~5 minutes) to complete the diff and display the results.

As a final note - the problem is with word-wrapping mode and lines over 35K characters length. I will study it.
