Error: syntax is incorrect

Post by mark_f1man »

I have just downloaded Synchronize It! to try and get a number of the following errors:
"The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect"

An example filename is below. They have chinese characters for a particular project we are involved with.
小试工厂(默多克)外币合同1.doc

Synchronize It! reports it as
????(???)????1.doc

Is there anyway to fix or workaround the problem of these files not synchronizing?

You should download and use Unicode version - it will handle such names and size over 255 chars without problems: http://www.grigsoft.com/wndsyncu.zip.

Thanks!

I downloaded that beta and it does complete without any of those errors.

As a note, I do get a few Access Denied errors on Thumbs.db files. Is it best to filter those out somehow? Or can they be synchronized?

Well, there is no reason to sync thumbs.db file - explorer updates it anyway. You can skip it with "Skip hidden files" option.
