Hello.

I downloaded the source code for Magic Mail Monitor 2.9.4-b19.

I know it's been a while since I contacted anyone about compiling Magic, but i'm getting back into it and i tried to compile it.

I get the following error:

Compiling resources...
Compiling...
StdAfx.cpp
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Ut\MMM\B19SRC\stdafx.h(39) : fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'openssl/crypto.h': No such file or directory
Error executing cl.exe.

Any help to resolve this issue would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks,
Tony

you need openssl installed. I'm not sure now why I have not included this in package - maybe there were some licensing problems.

Hello.

Thanks for your reply.

Is your name Valeriy Ovechkin?

So, I can't really use the source code for anything except to just look at it?

Can you explain what the openssl is?

Thanks,
Tony

Check http://mmm3.sourceforge.net/about.html for information on Valerii :)
Well, this is open source, so I have never really got in all these licensing details. You can use sources for studying, but can not use it in commercial software in most cases.
Openssl is a free library for secure SSL connection.

Hello Valerii.

I see there are two spellings of your name and i am not sure of which is correct.

So, i'm still unclear about this. I will not be able to compile it for my own personal use?

I do not plan to use it in any commercial application.

I guess i need to read up on exactly what "open source" is.

Do you know where i can get openssl? Or should i search Google?

Thanks,
Tony

Yes, do not worry - you can use it for your own needs without problems. Reading about open source could be not so easy - actually it's dozen of different licenses with its own terms and limitations :)
And this is http://openssl.org , sorry.

Valerii,

Ok. Are you saying I can use it for my own needs without problems, but i won't be able to compile it?

You give me the link to openssl.org, but then you say "sorry". I'm not sure of why you say that.

Will i be able to compile it if I find what i need at the openssl.org site?

Thanks,
Tony

Am I asking too many questions?

Igor is Igor and not Valerii, Valerii released the source code under GPL AFAIK and Igor in his kindness is maintaining and expanding it. :)

That basically means you can do (almost) what you want with it within the GPL license scope, which is relatively broad as long as it stays free and some other points which you can check at Wikipedia GPL.

Regards,

Brahman

Hello,
I was saying "sorry" because I have not supplied you link to openssl first time I mentioned it.
And you can anything you want with MMM sources :)
I will prepare a package with everything you need to build it.

Hello Igor.

I'm sorry for getting your name wrong and thanks to Brahman for the clarification.

I also apologize for my misinterpretation of your messages.

Lastly, I would like to apologize for not checking this message thread more often.

Now that all of the apologies are done, thanks for any help that you can provide to compile the source code that i have. Will you be sending me that package or will you post in on the SourceForge.Net site?

Tony
