Editing problems in Version 3.8.1.1644

I'm a new user and after selecting two files, I'm unable to use any edit command. The program indicates I'm in the edit mode. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

Do you have any icons in file title bar? Also please note that non plain text files (like doc, xls, rtf) can not be edited.

Thanks. I was trying to edit a .doc file. I didn't realize only text files could be edited. Is there any plan to add this capability?

Yes, but they are in long-distance future

The problem is complex formatting (fonts, colors), pictures, tables, embedded objects etc. all these must be preserved after editing and saving, what is currently not supported by editing engine.
